We have this thing where 'imperfect' fruit and veg boxes are sent from a farmers' co-op and delivered through a bike-delivery co-op once a week. It's a lot cheaper and I don't really care that the courgettes look like a warty ogre's dick. Do you have something like that?
I used to shop by bike. I even bought a cargo bike that would carry 4 full grocery bags plus my 2 kids on the back. Loved that thing. The legs on my kids grew too long and the bike wasn't reasonable to keep. It's now hauling farm raised veg around the neighborhood on the other side of the continent.

Not by bike. We're sooooo behind in UK. And less co-op culture than Italy or Spain. Wish more Gen X had gone into grocery instead of nitro bru coffee.

I am in awe of your strength and stamina, I can just about lug myself and one backpack around!
Great read Caroline. One dilemma after another but I enjoyed following your thinking process.
